Did you know that:

  • Over 60% of Australia’s 2.17 million enterprises operate as sole traders and a further 36% employ fewer than 20 staff?  This means small businesses comprise 96% of all businesses and no wonder they are often referred to as the backbone of the Australian economy.
  • Vary large businesses which have more than 200 staff represent less than 1% of all Australian businesses, that is just over 3,800 businesses.
  • Medium size businesses make up 2.3% of all businesses, or 51,000 businesses, but employ a quarter of Australia’s workforce.
